Fresh Off the Easel – "Rosewood" (18x24") Dear Art Enthusiast, There’s something special about the first brushstrokes in a new space — and I’m thrilled to share that "Rosewood" is the first piece completed in my brand new Boca Grande studio! Still fresh with wet paint, this 18x24" acrylic on canvas captures a quiet yet dynamic scene: Three Roseate Spoonbills perched on the bleached limbs of a dead tree. Two perch serenely, while the third has just landed, wings still unfurled in mid-motion, their soft pink plumage catching the light. Did You Know? These fascinating wading birds are sometimes mistaken for flamingos, but they’re smaller and truly unique. Their signature spoon-shaped bills help them sift through shallow waters for food. With each sideways sweep, they sense prey like crustaceans and small fish with specialized touch receptors. Spoonbills get their pink color from carotenoid pigments in their diet—just like flamingos. The richer the di...
Tell your own story. Why have the same fish mount as the masses when you can have a custom story-telling work of art? We all have that one fish story—the cast that landed just right, the fight that tested your patience, or the one that got away… almost. For me, it was a late spring day off the Florida Gulf coast. The water was glassy and sparkling with the setting sun. I was drifting in Boca Grande Pass, just enjoying the afternoon with family. I wasn’t expecting much, until I hooked into something that nearly pulled me overboard. FISH ON! I fought hard with a 175-pound tarpon and this girl was not interested in being anywhere near my boat. Each time I reeled her close, she would get another surge of energy and zip off all of the line I fought so hard to gain. There were moments of stand-off where I didn't lose any line but I didn't gain any either. We picked our way through the other boats in the Pass, avoiding fouling the line. She wanted shallow water and she showed off w...

Dear friends, I’m honored to share that Watson and I are exhibiting our photography and paintings at a truly unexpected—but meaningful—venue: a funeral home in Punta Gorda. Yes, you read that right. While it may seem unconventional, this space invites reflection. Our work centers on nature and coastal wildlife — subjects that have long inspired us, and which bring comfort to others as well. We’re drawn to the quiet beauty of the natural world, and to the sense of peace it offers. For many, memories of time spent with loved ones outdoors — walking the beach, watching birds, sitting beneath the trees and fishing — are some of the most cherished. It's often in those moments that we feel closest to something greater than ourselves. We believe deeply that our art has the power to comfort, to soothe, and to offer moments of peace, especially in times of grief. Sharing our work in this setting feels like a way to connect with people when they may need beauty and tenderness the most. ...
NEW Artwork for Spring 2025 Small works show Monday 3/17 to Wednesday 3/19 in Boca Grande. Originals only! Don't miss your chance to own one-of-a-kind original paintings! These pieces are exclusive and will NEVER be reproduced. I’ve created a fresh collection for the Spring Boca Grande Art Center show, featuring metallic gold, silver, and pearlescent hues. The subjects? Majestic tarpon and one beautiful sea turtle. The blue and gold pieces are a tribute to my background as a ceramicist, inspired by the elegant Wedgwood china patterns I adore. Meanwhile, the red and gold series honors my husband's Asian heritage, capturing the luxury and power these colors represent when combined. You can view photos and videos of these unique works on my social media, but here's the key—if you want to purchase, reach out to me directly via text at 941-268-7876 between NOW and SUNDAY. After that, they will enter the show, and your opportunity to own one of these original pieces will be G...
Coming up May 18-19, 2022 is the World's Richest Tarpon Tournament. I am returning again this year to present the commemorative artwork entitled "Brighter Days". This year's painting is all about optimism and remembering what we love about Boca Grande fishing. This is our version of a Norman Rockwell - our ideal drift. All boats hooked up on tarpon, a lazy sea turtle drifting in the pass, clear blue skies. All of the winners of last year's tournament are featured in this painting. First place team captain Jesse Craddock and mate Kaelin Olayer on the Flyin Hawaiian with a team of Mary Brooker, Shawn Brooker, Erin Lykins and Laurie Burcaw caught the most fish as well as the first fish caught on day two and the final fish on the last day. Second place was won aboard Hey Moma! with captain Wayne Joiner, mate Brecken Stinnet and anglers Alex Shouppe, Chris Sanders, Michael Moorefield and Kevin Charlan. First fist released on day one was by the team on Black Pea...
2022 Join me this Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. at the Coldwell Banker Sunstar Realty office on Gasparilla Road. (It's in the plaza with Noy's restaurant and Searsport Rug Hooking). Becky Borci, this Coldwell office, and Coast One Mortgage have generously agreed to host my art showcase this month, and we are kicking off the show with a reception. Come, have a glass of wine, and ask me your questions about my art. I'd love to hear your own stories as well! Both of my newest pieces will be on display, along with some of your older favorites. There is a brand-new metal print of the "Homeward Bound" turtles that I had made as a test piece. The metal floats on the wall, and the effect is very modern and shiny. I cannot wait to hear what you think! These new metal prints will be available for many of my works in the near future. I am working on migrating my ecommerce platform and setting up a newly designed website that should make for an exciting...
