Fresh Off the Easel – "Rosewood" (18x24")
Dear Art Enthusiast,
There’s something special about the first brushstrokes in a new space — and I’m thrilled to share that "Rosewood" is the first piece completed in my brand new Boca Grande studio!
Still fresh with wet paint, this 18x24" acrylic on canvas captures a quiet yet dynamic scene:
Three Roseate Spoonbills perched on the bleached limbs of a dead tree. Two perch serenely, while the third has just landed, wings still unfurled in mid-motion, their soft pink plumage catching the light.
Did You Know?
These fascinating wading birds are sometimes mistaken for flamingos, but they’re smaller and truly unique. Their signature spoon-shaped bills help them sift through shallow waters for food. With each sideways sweep, they sense prey like crustaceans and small fish with specialized touch receptors.
Spoonbills get their pink color from carotenoid pigments in their diet—just like flamingos. The richer the diet, the deeper the pink. Juveniles have paler, whiter feathers and a feathered head, while mature adults develop strikingly rosy wings and a bald greenish-gray head. During breeding season, their colors intensify, especially the vibrant orange tail and shoulder patches. Spoonbills are related to another of my favorite birds: the Ibis.
"Rosewood" is a tribute to this unique species and the delicate balance of motion and stillness in nature. It is the first in my new pink bird collection!
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
— Matthew 6:26 (NIV)

There have been multiple asks for a link to my Collector's Circle email signup form. Here is the link! Thank you for your interest in my artwork. My Collector's Circle enjoys advance access to new artwork. My art is in demand and many times the originals sell to my Collector's Circle before ever being released to the public market. This is the singular best way to see all of my new art and have a shot at purchasing it. Otherwise you will have to wait for me to do a public art launch. :( Who likes to wait? Especially when it means most likely missing out on buying your choice of artwork. For instance, I launched a turtle painting to my Collector's Circle and sold it within minutes . There were a dozen inquiries to that painting. That art is not going to be reproduced as a print, so the patron who acted on the email offering was able to acquire a very special piece of artwork. When I post the image to my website later in the month, no on...
