Sardine Slammers is one of the first paintings my husband Dave watched me paint from start to finish. The ultramarine and cobalt blue is so saturated in this painting that I stopped production of the print edition after the proofs were made. A printer cannot replicate it. Boca Grande Lady is one of my favorite surrealist pieces and the first painting I did specifically for the Boca Grande "Ladies Day" fishing tournament. The softness of that hibiscus flower with the tarpon and the sepia tones together make the perfect masculine and feminine mix. This one looks great in any office or room that has wood accents. Ah, the Beach Boys ... surfin' the coast. These tarpon were inspired by a lazy, calm day on the beach side of the island. They swam along the shoreline about mid-island, just cruising. Anchored in Tradition is an acrylic on gesso board painting that I made in 2013 for the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce Ladies Day Tarpon Tournament in Boca Grande. The tournament began because on Mother's Day weekend, guides would take their mother, wife, daughter, etc out into the Pass for a day of fishing. The ladies couldn't help it. An all-female field of anglers can be very competitive! That tradition continues to this day as an official live bait, catch-and-release tarpon tournament. Even with the drive to win gnawing at us, we also have a lot of memorable shenanigans in the Pass. Ladies, if you haven't fished this tournament, you should! Many of our past winners were first-timers. Tarpon week in Boca Grande ... The week of June 3, 2019 is an exciting week for all of us on the island. There are so many events surrounding the 37th Annual World's Richest Tarpon Tournament. I attend all of the tournament events and I unveil my newest original paintings at the Boca Grande Invitational Art Show. Carroll Swayze created another amazing lineup of world-class talent for the 2019 Boca Grande Invitational. The central streets of downtown are lined with white tents of artists known for their nautical and coastal wildlife works in every medium from glass and sculpture to painting and jewelry. You can see my 2018 and 2019 WRTT artworks side-by-side during the event. It's a special event where you can shop to live music and grab a bite to eat at one of the iconic downtown stops.
